Cryptocurrencies continue their expansion with a 880 % growth in 2021*. Belgium alone saw USD 25 billion of exchange in one year. This growing industry is obviously under scrutiny of policymakers and regulators.
The Belgian regulator is not to be outdone. It has just issued a new regulatory framework applicable to virtual asset service providers (VASPs)
On April 21st, let's meet up and discuss the impact of this new Belgian regulatory framework and the amazing evolution of cryptocurrencies.
Experts from DLA Piper will present and explain this new legal framework and the reasons behind these new rules, game-changer for all Belgian crypto players.
In parallel, the European Commission has intensively been working on the Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCA) Regulation first introduced in 2020 and that will strongly impact the whole of our sector. A few weeks ago, the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on MiCA.
What are the latest news on this regulation in progress? How are we likely to be impacted by it? A MiCA expert will share with us the latest developments and what the Commission is likely to land on.
With a lot of Belgian and European regulation already there and on their way, it is obvious that the cryptocurrency sector is strongly evolving.
