Webinar on Author’s Rights: A guide for the current mess!

08/12/2022, 12:30-13:30

Copyrights and tax : How to navigate the reform?

The recent developments by the Belgian Minister of Finance on Author's rights and the existing Tax regime has poorly impacted the attractiveness of Belgium in retaining talents. As the current situation is unclear, Fintech Belgium has proposed a webinar to try & clarify it and advice the fintechs benefitting from the tax incentives. If you don't know what to do in the current situation and want to explore alternatives, this webinar is for you!

Income from copyright benefits from a favourable tax regime in Belgium which has proven to be a valuable tool for attracting and retaining talents in our sector for years. This summer, the Minister of Finance indicated his intention to drastically reduce the scope of this regime. Fintech Belgium has communicated its position to the Minister and other important players over the past few weeks, emphasising the significance of that regime while acknowledging the Minister's readiness to limit its reach and abuses. On November 24th, a bill of law has been filed with the House of Representatives, which will enter into force on 1st January 2023.

Unfortunately, the situation is rather unclear and leaves important questions unanswered, especially within our sector.

As a result, we have decided to organise and we are keen to invite you to a webinar to help you tackle the following questions:

1. What possibilities are still offered under the current regime and how is such regime maintained?

2. What does the new regime change for my business?

3. What are the available alternatives ? What will happen for workers who benefit from the current regime?  Which measures should I/can I take as business? Are there some alternatives?

The webinar will be given by Guillaume Delfosse, Lawyer and Counsel within Simont Braun tax team. Guillaume has extensive practice with the copyright regime and he has worked alongside Fintech Belgium on the recent discussions and evolutions around the topic. The webinar is for FINTECHS ONLY.
