FTBE organises FTBE session and panel discussion with Febelfin Academy

FTBE organises FTBE session as guest speaker panel discussion on Innovation and Trends in the Qualified Payments Expert Programme with Febelfin Academy

Last week marked the culmination of the 4-day training programme, Qualified Payments Expert with Febelfin Academy where industry leaders explored the ever-evolving landscape of payments. With a comprehensive curriculum covering European Payments, Cross-Border Payments, Cards & POS/POI Payments, and Trends & New Entrants in Payments, participants left with a comprehensive understanding of the world of payments, including its context, concepts, relevant frameworks, and future developments

Our CEO, Alessandra Guion, organised the FTBE session and moderated a panel discussion on Innovation and Trends during the programme's closing day. Alessandra's opening remarks provided an overview of the fintech landscape, highlighting key trends ranging from regulatory changes to the growing influence of technology and finance in everyday payments. The session showcased interesting presentations from three of our members Twikey (Dominique Adriansens), Digiteal (Cédric Nève), and iBanFirst (Houssine Lagmara). These showcases shed light on trends and innovation in Payments.

The FTBE session concluded with an insightful panel discussion. Alessandra led a dynamic conversation together with Mark Munne (Isabel Group), Niklas Sandqvist (EDFA) and Kjeld Herreman (RedCompass Labs) covering key challenges, innovations, and future trends in the fintech industry.

Reflecting on her experience, Alessandra shared valuable insights from the panel discussion:

  • Observing how priorities and preferences regarding payment schemes and solutions create significant divisions within the industry, merchants, and policymakers alike.

  • It's a constant reminder that both banks and fintech companies struggle with the burdensome weight and complexity of increasing regulations and reporting requirements.

  • We've interestingly closed some gaps in mistrust stemming from misunderstandings and preconceived ideas about fintech companies #loveagoodconversatio

  • We’ve spread a deeper understanding of the vital collaboration between banks, as guarantors of trust but also constrained by their aging technologies and size, and fintech companies, smaller yet offering streamlined and perhaps more specialized solutions with focused expertise.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our members Twikey, Digiteal and iBanFirst for their valuable showcases. We extend our gratitude to Mark Munne, Niklas Sandqvist, and Kjeld Herreman for their contribution to our panel. Lastly, the biggest thank you to Febelfin Academy for providing us with the opportunity to connect, inspire, and foster further collaborations within our ecosystem!
