The startup StarTalers raises EUR 820,000 for the upcoming launch of its investment management platform for women in Belgium and Luxembourg
Brussels/Luxembourg, 29 June 2021: StarTalers – the startup which positions itself as the “best financial friend” of women who want to make sustainable investments – announces the successful closing of a new funding round. The startup raised EUR 820,000 in its second round of financing, which will help the startup co-founded by Gaëlle Haag and Thierry Smets with the upcoming launch of its “Capitana” app, a guided investment platform that women (and men) can use to boost their savings by investing with ease in a wide range of products, while having a positive social and environmental impact.
The funds were raised primarily from the company’s historical shareholders, which include the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, Seeder Fund as well as Belgian, Luxembourg and French business angels, who are mostly women, but also from Leansquare, which acquired its first stake in the startup.
EUR 820,000 to launch “CAPITANA”
“Capitana” is an investment platform that was developed by StarTalers to enable its community of over 2,000 members to easily take control of their financial future, while having a positive social or environmental impact through their investments.
Today, only 10% of women in Europe invest their savings, which is half as many as men. This is primarily explained by women’s lack of confidence when it comes to their knowledge of finance and investments, and because women tend to consider traditional investment strategies as not in line with their values. That is why the 20% wage gap faced by women during their career is growing wider. When they retire, women have 40% less capital than men, even though women live on average five years longer.
“Capitana” – which will soon be operational in Belgium and Luxembourg – sets out to reverse this trend by focusing on the barriers which prevent women from investing and by allowing users from both genders to build, through the application, a personalised investment portfolio based on their values and convictions. While the platform was specifically designed to address the obstacles faced by women, it may be used by all investors who identify with its values and investment philosophy.
“Capitana” will be managed by a team of financial analysts along with its investment committee, which is made up of experts from the wealth management world. The range of investments on the platform will be revealed when it is officially launched in the autumn 2021 and will reflect the founding principles of StarTalers, namely women and ethics.

The first step is to improve the financial literacy of investors, whether male or female, to give them everything they need to understand investments. Historic shareholders still present
In its first funding round at the end of 2019, StarTalers raised EUR 520,000 from the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, Seeder Fund, and Belgian, Luxembourg and French business angels. Leansquare joined as a new shareholder in the second round of funding, which saw a total of EUR 820,000 raised.

StarTalers boucle une nouvelle augmentation de capital
820.000€ levés pour le lancement prochain de sa plateforme de gestion pilotée dédiée aux femmes en Belgique et au Luxembourg
Bruxelles / Luxembourg, le 29 juin 2020 – StarTalers - la startup qui se positionne comme la “meilleure amie financière des femmes” qui veulent investir durablement - annonce avoir bouclé sa deuxième augmentation de capital. Un second tour de table de 820.000€ qui va permettre à la jeune pousse cofondée par Gaëlle Haag et Thierry Smets le lancement prochain de son application “Capitana”, plateforme financière de gestion pilotée qui permet aux femmes (et aux hommes) de réveiller leur épargne en la plaçant sur une large sélection de produits en toute simplicité, tout en ayant un impact social et environnemental positif.
Les fonds ont été réunis principalement auprès des actionnaires historiques : la Bourse de Luxembourg, Le Seeder Fund et des business angels belges, luxembourgeois et français, majoritairement des femmes ainsi que du fonds Leansquare qui entre au capital.
820.000€ pour mettre sur orbite “CAPITANA”
“Capitana”, plateforme financière développée par StarTalers, a pour ambition de permettre à sa communauté de plus de 2000 membres de prendre en main son avenir financier sans attendre et en toute simplicité tout en ayant un impact social positif.
Aujourd’hui seules 10% des femmes en Europe investissent leur épargne. C’est moitié moins que les hommes. Principalement en raison de leur manque de confiance dans leurs connaissances financières et de placements, ces derniers étant parfois aussi trop éloignés de leurs valeurs. En conséquence, l'écart salarial de 20% auquel les femmes sont confrontées durant leur vie professionnelle se creuse. A la retraite, les femmes ont 40% de capital en moins, alors qu’elles vivent en moyenne 5 ans de plus.
“Capitana”- qui sera prochainement opérationnelle en Belgique et au Luxembourg - propose d’inverser cette tendance en se concentrant sur les barrières qui retiennent en particulier les femmes de se lancer dans l’investissement et en permettant aux utilisatrices – et aux utilisateurs - de se constituer, au travers de l’application dédiée, un portefeuille de placements personnalisé en fonction de leurs choix et de leurs convictions. En effet, si le développement de la plateforme s’est basée en particulier sur les freins des femmes, la plateforme est accessible à tous les investisseurs qui se reconnaissent dans les valeurs et la philosophie d’investissement de la plateforme.
La gestion du portefeuille sera pilotée par l’équipe d'analystes dédiés à la gestion de “Capitana”, ainsi que par son comité d’investissement constitué d’expertes issues du monde de la gestion patrimoniale.
La sélection des placements proposés sur la plateforme seront révélés lors de son lancement officiel, à l’automne 2021. Ceux-ci auront comme fil d’Ariane les valeurs de fondation du projet de StarTalers : les femmes et l’éthique.

Les actionnaires historiques au rendez-vous
StarTalers avait réalisé une première augmentation de capital de 520.000€ fin 2019 auprès de la Bourse de Luxembourg et de business angels ainsi que du Seeder Fund. Pour cette deuxième levée, Leansquare a rejoint le capital.

De startup haalde € 820.000 op voor de lancering van zijn platform voor vermogensbeheer gericht tot vrouwen in België en Luxemburg
Brussel/Luxemburg, 29 juni 2021 – StarTalers, de startup die zichzelf positioneert als de "beste financiële vriendin voor vrouwen" die duurzaam willen investeren, kondigt aan dat het zijn tweede kapitaalverhoging heeft afgerond. Met deze tweede financieringsronde van € 820.000 wil de onderneming opgericht door Gaëlle Haag en Thierry Smets de applicatie "Capitana" lanceren. Dankzij dit financieel beheerplatform kunnen vrouwen (en mannen) hun spaargeld activeren door het eenvoudig te beleggen in een uitgebreide selectie producten en tegelijk een positieve maatschappelijke en ecologische impact hebben.
De fondsen werden hoofdzakelijk bijeengebracht door de historische aandeelhouders van de startup: de beurs van Luxemburg (Luxembourg Stock Exchange), Seeder Fund en Belgische, Luxemburgse en Franse business angels, voor het merendeel vrouwen. Bij deze tweede kapitaalverhoging treedt ook het fonds Leansquare toe tot het kapitaal.
€ 820.000 voor de lancering van "CAPITANA"
Het financiële platform "Capitana" ontwikkeld door StarTalers heeft als doel zijn community van meer dan 2.000 leden de kans te geven hun financiële toekomst snel en vlot in eigen handen te nemen en tegelijk een positieve maatschappelijke impact te hebben.
Vandaag investeert slechts 10% van de vrouwen in Europa hun spaargeld. Dat is de helft minder dan mannen. Dit is vooral te wijten aan hun gebrek aan vertrouwen in hun financiële en beleggingskennis, die soms ook te ver van hun waarden afstaat. Als gevolg daarvan wordt de loonkloof van 20% waarmee vrouwen tijdens hun beroepsleven te kampen hebben, steeds groter. Bij hun pensionering beschikken vrouwen over 40% minder kapitaal, ook al leven ze gemiddeld 5 jaar langer.
"Capitana" zal binnenkort in België en Luxemburg operationeel zijn en wil deze trend ombuigen. Daartoe richt het zich op de struikelblokken die vrouwen ervan weerhouden om te beleggen en biedt het gebruikers de mogelijkheid om via de speciale applicatie een gepersonaliseerde beleggingsportefeuille samen te stellen volgens hun eigen keuzes en overtuigingen. Hoewel bij de ontwikkeling van het platform in het bijzonder werd uitgegaan van de obstakels voor vrouwen, is het platform toegankelijk voor alle beleggers die zich herkennen in de waarden en de beleggingsfilosofie van het platform.
Het portefeuillebeheer zal worden aangestuurd door het team van analisten dat instaat voor het beheer van "Capitana", evenals door het beleggingscomité dat bestaat uit deskundigen uit de wereld van het vermogensbeheer.
De selectie van beleggingen die op het platform worden aangeboden, zal worden bekendgemaakt bij de officiële lancering ervan in het najaar van 2021. De keuze zal gebaseerd zijn op de fundamentele waarden van het project van StarTalers: vrouwen en ethiek.

Historische aandeelhouders opnieuw van de partij
StarTalers had eind 2019 een eerste kapitaalverhoging van € 520.000 afgerond met de Luxemburgse beurs (LuxSE), business angels en Seeder Fund. Voor deze tweede kapitaalverhoging is Leansquare toegetreden tot het kapitaal.
