Belgian growth companies raised 779 million euros in the first half of the year, a high exceeding, outside 2020, the previous years as a whole.

It has almost become a habit: semester after semester, year after year, the record for funding young Belgian tech and biotech companies is broken. 2021 is no exception. The data we collect show, in fact, that the counter rose, this time, to 779 million euros over the first six months of the year. This is 27% more than the previous year - to 613 million, a record level also - and much more than the amounts of previous years (excluding 2020) over the twelve months they count.

The shares of the pie are distributed as follows: technology companies have raised some 546 million euros, while biotechs have sought some 233 million on the occasion of no less than 81 fundraising rounds.
